A una cinquantina di chilometri da Madrid si trova Nuevo Baztan, una cittadina di 6.000 abitanti fondata nella prima metà del ‘700 da Juan de Goyeneche y Gaston, un ricco imprenditore di Madrid. E’ un villaggio industriale come in Italia sono, per esempio, Crespi d’Adda e Collegno, entrambi visitabili.
Oltre alla notevole chiesa barocca e al Palazzo de Goyeneche, nel paese c’è una piazza veramente stupenda, Plaza de Fiestas, dove sono stati girati tantissimi film, soprattutto spaghetti western. Purtroppo la piazza era chiusa per lavori, così abbiamo fatto solo qualche foto dagli archi di accesso alla piazza.
E poi, se siete da queste parti, a una quarantina di chilometri non si può perdere Chinchon, un gioiellino tutto costruito intorno alla Plaza de Toros, che è anche la piazza principale del paese.
Nuevo Baztan, located about fifty kilometers from Madrid, is a town of 6,000 inhabitants founded in the first half of the 18th century by Juan de Goyeneche y Gaston, a wealthy businessman from Madrid. It is an industrial village as in Italy, for example, Crespi d’Adda and Collegno, both of which can be visited.
In addition to the remarkable baroque church and the Palazzo de Goyeneche, in the village there is a truly beautiful square, Plaza de Fiestas, where many films have been shot, especially spaghetti westerns. Unfortunately the square was closed due to reconstruction, so we only took a few photos from the arches leading to the square.
And then, if you are here, don’t miss a visit to Chinchon, a little jewel built around the Bullring, which is also the main square of the village; Chinchon is at 40 kilometers from Nuevo Baztan.
