La mia passione per i film di Sergio Leone risale a tantissimi anni fa. La passione di cercare e fotografare le location dove furono girati quei film è più recente, diciamo una decina d’anni.
Nel 2017 ho voluto provare a documentare le vacanze trascorse in Spagna a fotografare i luoghi dei film.
Alla fine, con tutti limiti dovuti al fatto che non ho alcuna cultura di siti web, credo sia venuto fuori un lavoro discreto e, soprattutto, piuttosto completo.
Nel frattempo però ho cominciato ad approfondire l’argomento e mi sono innamorato dei film western italiani comunemente noti, anche se non mi piace, come “spaghetti western”. In questi ultimi anni ne ho visto più di 500.
E così ho cominciato ad interessarmi anche alle altre location spagnole, e ho cominciato a conoscere quelle italiane. Alcune di queste l’ho già documentate sul blog.
Alla fine dell’anno scorso, grazie a W.Tassoni, un vero guru degli appassionati del mondo western, sono venuto in contatto con Carlo Gaberscek, considerato uno dei maggiori esperti delle location western, sia americane che europee. Mi è stato addirittura donato un libro da lui scritto, “Il vicino West”, che descrive in modo davvero completo e strutturato le location spagnole e italiane. Ed è subito diventato la mia bibbia.
E così ho maturato seriamente l’idea di estendere il più possibile le mie conoscenze e, soprattutto, i miei giri alla scoperta di nuove (per me) location sia in Italia che in Spagna.
Credo quindi che i tempi siano maturi per documentare sul blog questa nuova e più ampia visione dell’argomento. Naturalmente in attesa delle prossime gite.
My passion for Sergio Leone’s films dates back to many years ago. The passion of looking for and photographing the locations where those films were shot is more recent, let’s say about ten years.
In 2017 I wanted to document the holidays spent in Spain photographing the locations of the films.
In the end, with all the limitations due to the fact that I have no website culture, I think it turned out to be a decent and, above all, quite complete job.
In the meantime I began to investigate the subject and I fell in love with the Italian western films, commonly called “spaghetti westerns”. In recent years I have seen more than 500 of them.
So I started to get interested in other Spanish locations as well, and I began to know the Italian ones. Some of these I have already documented on the blog.
At the end of last year, thanks to W.Tassoni, a true guru of western fans, I came into contact with Carlo Gaberscek, considered one of the leading experts on western locations, both American and European. I was even given a book he wrote, “The Near West”, which describes the Spanish and Italian locations in a truly complete and structured way. And it quickly became my bible.
And so I seriously developed the idea of extending my knowledge as much as possible and, above all, my tours to discover new (for me) locations both in Italy and in Spain.
I therefore believe that I’m ready to document this new and broader vision of the topic on the blog. Of course waiting for the next trips.
