E’ una delle spiagge più belle della costa di Almeria insieme alla vicina Playa de los Genoveses che ho già documentato in questa pagina.
Si trova nel Parco Naturale di Cabo de Gata-Nijar; si raggiunge da San José percorrendo una strada sterrata per circa 5 chilometri.
Questa zona, tuttora immersa in una natura incontaminata, è ricca di location che hanno ospitato moltissimi film.
La Playa de Monsul è nota per aver ospitato alcune scene di Indiana Jones e l’ultima Crociata.
Generalmente il mare e le spiagge non sono molto presenti nei film western; a Monsul sono comunque state girate scene di alcuni film, tra cui voglio citare Blindman, film del 1971 diretto da Ferdinando Baldi, famoso soprattutto perché vede come protagonista Ringo Starr, storico batterista dei Beatles.
